New Boeing 737 jet
Boeing has launched a new variant within its Boeing 737 family, the Boeing 737 MAX 10. The new 230 seater will directly compete with Airbus’s A321NEO LR which can seat up to 236 passengers in a single class configuration. Boeing expects many of its own customers to convert orders from the B737 MAX 9 to the MAX 10, citing better cost per seat. Boeing and other manufacturers are betting heavily on the mid-sized single isle market, as the industry shifts away from a hub-based to a point to point model which has been heavily accelerated by the growth of low-cost and long haul low-cost carriers. Whilst wide body aircraft such as the B747-8 and A380 continue to struggle attracting new orders, Boeing believes its new strategy will help it return to dominate the sky.
